WHat is CROSSFIT?
CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at a high intensity.
What does that mean, and why does it matter?
Constantly varied: Every workout is different. Facing the unknown, day in and day out, keeps the body and mind consistently learning to adapt and meet the needs of a task at hand. Comfort = Complacency = Lack of results, and if you're not going to see results, what's the point in taking valuable time out of your day to show up? There is no room for complacency in CrossFit. Together, we support and encourage each other to face the unknown, and come out stronger than the day before!
Functional movement: Functional movements are life's core movements. Functional movements are applicable across many areas and skills in life, like the ability to play a sport, play with your grandchildren, run through an airport to catch a flight, or climb a mountain. Strengthening functional movements helps to tackle life as a whole.
High intensity: You won't find us moseying along from machine to machine, chatting about what we had for lunch. High intensity means we do more work, in a shorter period of time. While every workout is a little bit different, and has a slightly different "intended stimulus," the goal is never just to check things off of a list. We show up, we work hard (sometimes for 2 minutes, sometimes for 20 minutes) and from that intensity, we see increased results. Pushing the envelope and getting more work done in less time is what intensity is made of. Results is what it equates to.
