CLASS/GYM ETIQUETTE
Please use these following guidelines to make your (and others') experience at CFTP as awesome as possible!
BE ON TIME
This means arriving prior to the start of class, so that you are setup up, shoes are changed and everything is ready to meet at the whiteboard at the start of class time; on the dot.
INTRODUCE YOURSELF
See a new face? Introduce yourself! We all know what it’s like to be the newbie; take 2 seconds to introduce yourself. A little goes a long way!
BE COACHABLE
You're paying for the experience of having a coach, and our coaches LOVE doing what they do! Be open to the coach's guidance; if you have questions or want better understanding, feel free to ask! Utilize and trust your coaches - we're here for YOU!
NO BACKSEAT COACHING
If you're not the coach being paid to guide the class, please do not try to coach other athletes. More often than not this is a distraction and adds confusion to both the athlete and coach experience. You're there to workout, so do that! We're here to coach, let us do that. If another athlete has a question (or if you're that athlete with a question!), go to THE COACH THAT IS LEADING THE CLASS.
STAY UNTIL
THE END
DON’T CLEAN YOUR EQUIPMENT UP UNTIL THE LAST PERSON HAS FINISHED. There are some workouts when we all work for the same amount of time, but on the days when you finish before others, take that time to chill out, mobilize, relax, and cheer others on. You allotted the entire hour of class time for your workout, so stay until the end and don’t clean up your stuff until the last person has finished. If there’s a chance class will run over for the last person to finish, leave your things; we’ll clean up for you. But stay until the end. :)
WIPE YOUR TOYS DOWN & PUT THEM BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM
Cleanliness is important to us. It keeps things in order, makes them easy to find, and keeps things in good condition for all of you. Be sure to wipe all of the equipment you used for the day down with a towel and the sanitizing spray we offer at the end of class (this includes wiping the chalk off of your barbell and pull-up bar), and put everything back where it came from. EVERYTHING has a place. If you're unsure where something goes *cough the plates that get left on the floor after deadlift day*, ask a coach. We're happy to help!
CHALK
You’re welcome to bring your own chalk, or purchase the chalk we have for sale at the gym. We ask that you use your own chalk (and don’t just grab a random person’s chalk). This helps to take ownership and keep track of your own chalk; the easiest way to make sure you always have some when you want it! :) Also, be courteous. We know some workouts are sweatier than others, but be mindful of that chalk you throw around. and if you make a mess, please wipe your chalk mess with a towel and spray. No-one likes to lay in someone else’s chalky mess. :)
BE MINDFUL & RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS
This includes but is not limited to side conversations. At the whiteboard? Pay attention to the coach speaking. Hanging out after class? We love that! Keep conversations to a level that isn’t distracting to the current class trying to listen to their coach. Doing side work? AWESOME! This should not interfere with the equipment or environment of the current class taking place (please no grunting or screaming or bar slamming while a coach is going over the whiteboard ;))
PHONES/
HEADPHONES
You’re here. Let’s do this thing together. Please minimize phone usage during class time; and leave your headphones in the car. Part of the CrossFit experience, is experiencing the workout together and the camaraderie of it all.
CHILDREN
Children who can sit quietly while their parents workout are welcome to come to the gym. However, for the safety of children and our paying members, and quality of the experience of members, children should under no circumstances be on the gym floor during class time. CrossFit Kids classes are Sundays at 10:30. Your kiddos can come workout then. :)
